Hot Flash? Or Just Me?!😩

Let’s talk about the “M” word—menopause. Not whispered, not tiptoed around. LOUD and CLEAR, because I’m in it too. Menopause Isn’t a Dirty Word… It’s a Whole Life Stage.

Whether you’re in perimenopause and wondering why your sleep is a mess, or deep into hot flashes, brain fog, and feeling like a stranger in your own skin, know this: you’re not alone, and you’re not imagining it.

Here’s the timeline many of us ride:

🌅 Perimenopause: Starts in your 40s (sometimes late 30s), lasts 4–8 years.

🛑 Menopause: Happens around age 51 (average), when your period has been MIA for 12 months.

🚀 Postmenopause: You’re in it for the long haul—symptoms may continue well into your 60s, 70s, or beyond.

Symptoms like these can linger longer than anyone warns us:

🔥 Hot flashes and night sweats: 7–10 years (or more!)

🌵 Vaginal dryness and pain with sex: can worsen with age

🌙 Sleep problems, brain fog, mood swings: sometimes stick around a decade or longer

This is the time to be bold in your healthcare conversations. When you see your provider, ask:

🧪 What hormone testing is appropriate for me?

🧘‍♀️ What are my hormonal and non-hormonal options?

🦴 Can we talk about bone health, heart risk, and vaginal changes?

💬 Can we talk honestly about sex, intimacy, and comfort?

Yes—dryness down there is real, and it matters. Vaginal atrophy doesn’t just affect intimacy—it can affect urination, comfort, and quality of life. Moisturizers, lubricants, and prescription options exist—and they work.

Tips to tame the madness:

🧤 Dress in breathable layers (hot flash sneak attacks are real)

🧃 Hydrate and skip the caffeine when you can

🧘‍♀️ Move your body daily—even light stretching helps

💤 Prioritize sleep (and naps count!)

😂 Laugh. Seriously—mood swings hate a good giggle

From one menopausal warrior to another: this isn’t the end. It’s a powerful, transforming chapter—and we deserve to feel good in it.
